Phil Mickelson won the HSBC Championship
Posted by admin as Phil Mickelson
World No. 2 Phil Mickelson won the 2009 HSBC Championship by beating the world best including his playing partner world no. 1 Tiger Woods. It was one of the most interesting final day round in any competition with Woods lost 3 shots with a double and a bogey in the front nine before making charge later at the back nine, but it was a little too late for the world no. 1.

It was the big easy Ernie Els the top favourite at the final hole but he like what he did before hit his 2nd shot to the par 5 into the water and ended up bogey hoping that Phil will make mistake for a play off. Phil Kickelson proved that luck was on his side despite some amateur type of shot at the 16th where his 64 degree wedge went through the club but managed to save par for a putt outside the green. He needed just to par the 18th to take the championship.
Nick Watney and Ryan Moore was among the 2 relatively unknown players who managed to put a good fight with the world top rank players. We will sure to see more from the 2 americans and probably they will be in the team at the next Ryder cup.
