Teenager Noh Seung yul won the 2010 Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club beating compatriot KJ Choi after birdied the 72nd hole. One flight ahead KJ Choi birdied the 18th to tie Noh at 13 under while the teenager drove his tee shot far left to the next fairway but with a very good uphill lie for his second shot.

At the same time, the crowd roared when KJ made his birdied and tied Nof at 13 under par for the tournament. When the green was cleared, Noh hit his second shot from the adjacent fairway and the ball went to the left of the green into the cart track which needed him to drop at the grass next to the practice putting greens.

It was not an easy third shot, but he kep his cool and set up an easy 3 footer birdie putts. He commented later that he had many good chip in that probably helped him to win the tournament.

It was a very sweet victory for the teenager and the Malaysian Open has set up a good platform for him to move further in his golfing career and his dream to play in the PGA tour after winning in the European and the Asian tour. Last year he was so close to winning when he was leading the pack after the first round.

Korean and Korean born players have been dominating the Malaysian golf recently after Charlie Wie and Anthony Kang won the recent past Malaysian Open and the crowd favourite KJ Choi also won the Iskandar Open last year. With the win Noh received a cheque of USD333,333 as the winners’ prize money.

It was really a sweet first victory for Rafael and the win has improved his Race to Dubai position to no 43.

Benn Barham did what he could and shot a round of 69 and the first victory will need to wait a bit longer. It is nice to see many first time winner in the European tour this year and certainly Rafael will be one of the the rising star in golf we hope to see in the coming years
