The Players Championship

Posted by admin as PGA

A week after the Quail Hollow, Tiger Woods will return to the Players Championship this week. Last week was Tiger’s worst ever performance as anyone could remember and carded the second day at 79 strokes, a performance which many single handicapper could easily beat on any given good day of golf.

Tiger stressed that he will make a return this week at the Players Championship, where many eyes will be watching Phil Mickelson who is currently the top favourite to win and replace Tiger as the world no. 1 should Tiger failed to finished in the top 5 and Phil wins.

The big question is will Tiger miss another cut after the terrible outing at Quail Hollow last week. Judging from the way he played last week, he will probably miss another cut and Phil Mickelson will take over as the world no. 1 golfer.

Shell Houston Open

Posted by admin as PGA

It’s April and before the Augusta showdown is the Shell Houston Open but we will not see Tiger Woods in action. The favourite for this tournament is of course the top players like Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Padraig Harrington. I would count Vijay to be out of contention as he has not get that magic touch of his especially with his putting. Sergio can sometimes bring a lot of surprise. The spaniards to me is still the best driver and iron player in the world but his putting can let him down sometimes.

Not forgetting double winner in 2009 Geoff Ovilvy  can add another victory to his winning list this year. Phil Mickelson maybe the world number 2 player now and quite consistent.

But I am hoping that Camilo Villegas to win at Shell Houston

Tiger Woods is just 3 strokes back at Bay Hill

Posted by admin as PGA

Tiger Woods defending his Arnold Palmer Invitation title is just 3 strokes back the leader of Jason Gore on the first round with of 68. As usual Woods was everywhere, had his shot in the water, the trees but managed to scrambled with 8 consecutives 1 putt of which 4 are straight birdie putts.

If we are talking about the 2007 Tiger Woods I would put all my money that he will win this tournament. The first round leader Jason Gore has not been playing that well in the PGA lately and it is still too early to say if he is the favourite to win this tournament.

Ryo Ishikawa drove 2 balls into the par 5 sixth and made a nine. He finished the round at 76 and we really hope that Ryo will amend his mistakes n Friday and at least make it to the weekends rounds. Still I cannot see a clear favourite to win here, but it will be highly likely an unknown underdogs will emerge as the winner on Sunday.

Cheers.
